Executive Summary
Andrew Butt is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Enable, a B2B rebate management platform he started in July 2016 and has led to a $1.12 billion valuation. Enable addresses a problem that is unglamorous and enormous: the rebate and incentive agreements that govern trade between manufacturers, distributors, and retailers are typically managed in spreadsheets, which means the parties to a deal routinely disagree about what they owe each other. Enable moves those agreements into a shared system so both sides see the same numbers. Butt is a third-time founder, having previously built DCS E-Commerce and Information Matrix, and he serves on Enable’s board of directors alongside his executive role.

Professional Journey
Butt’s entry into business came through an unusual trade. As a teenager in the UK he volunteered at a helicopter flying school, offering his technical skills to improve their systems in exchange for flying lessons — an arrangement that gave him both a pilot’s training and, more consequentially, an introduction to Denys Shortt, the entrepreneur who would become his co-founder across multiple companies.
In March 2000 the two formed DCS E-Commerce, a software engineering business that grew to roughly 100 employees and, unusually for the period, was profitable. Four years later they co-founded Information Matrix Ltd, a B2B SaaS company that was eventually acquired by Sovereign Capital, a London-based private equity firm. Those two businesses gave Butt a long exposure to the commercial machinery of British distribution and retail, and specifically to the rebate agreements that sit underneath it.
He co-founded Enable in July 2016 to attack that problem directly. Rebates are used across manufacturing, distribution, and retail as the primary lever for shaping trading behavior, but they are typically tracked by each party separately in spreadsheets, which guarantees disputes, delayed payments, and money left uncollected. Enable’s approach was to make the rebate agreement itself a shared, live object that both trading partners work from, so that entitlement is calculated once rather than argued over afterward, and so that the commercial intelligence buried in those agreements becomes visible while deals are still being negotiated.
The company grew from UK roots into a US-centered business, relocating its headquarters to San Francisco in 2020. It raised a $94 million Series C and then, in November 2023, a $120 million Series D that valued it at $1.12 billion and expanded its board — taking total capital raised to roughly $276 million and headcount to around 550, with plans to reach 600. Butt has continued to position the company beyond rebate administration and toward what it describes as AI-native commercial intelligence, using the data in trading agreements to inform how deals are structured rather than only how they are settled.
