Executive Summary

Steve Vierra is Chief Revenue Officer of Pluralsight, the technology workforce development company whose platform is used by roughly 70 percent of the Fortune 500 to close skills gaps in cloud, security, data, software development and — increasingly — AI. Appointed in May 2025, he owns an unusually broad remit for a revenue leader: Sales, Customer Success, Revenue Enablement and Support all report to him, which puts the whole post-sale relationship under the same roof as the sale itself. He brought more than thirty years of enterprise go-to-market experience to the job, built across two decades at BMC Software, a spell running global field operations at Medallia, and most recently the chief revenue role at the talent platform Beamery. He joined at a genuinely pivotal moment for the company, which has been through a change of ownership, a change of chief executive and a move of headquarters in recent years.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Revenue Officer of Pluralsight, announced 6 May 2025, leading Sales, Customer Success, Revenue Enablement and Support.
  • More than 30 years of technology industry and go-to-market experience.
  • Chief Revenue Officer of Beamery, where he directed the entire commercial organisation — Sales, Solution Consulting, Marketing, Customer Success and Partnerships.
  • Executive Vice President of Global Field Operations at Medallia, Inc., the experience management company that listed publicly in 2019.
  • Twenty years at BMC Software, described by Pluralsight as acting there as Global Sales owner.
  • Recruited by CEO Erin Gajdalo, who framed the hire around scale: “Having an innovative, results-driven sales leader is crucial as Pluralsight continues to scale.”

Professional Journey

Vierra’s career was built in the enterprise software field organisation, and the first two decades of it were spent in one place. He joined BMC Software and stayed twenty years, ending as what Pluralsight describes as its Global Sales owner — a long tenure in a company whose products sit deep in IT operations and whose sales cycles are correspondingly long and technical. That is the kind of apprenticeship that produces leaders comfortable with complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals rather than velocity selling.

He moved next to Medallia as Executive Vice President of Global Field Operations, taking responsibility for the go-to-market machine of a company then scaling towards and through its 2019 public listing in the experience-management category. From there he became Chief Revenue Officer of Beamery, the talent lifecycle management platform, where his scope widened again to cover the whole commercial organisation — not just sales but solution consulting, marketing, customer success and partnerships.

Pluralsight recruited him in May 2025. The job description is a close match for the Beamery role: sales plus the functions that determine whether a sale renews. For a subscription learning platform sold to enterprises, that combination matters more than usual, because the revenue question is not whether an organisation buys licences but whether its engineers actually use them.

He arrived at a company in transition. Pluralsight went public in 2018, was taken private in 2021, and has since been restructured; it now trades as Pluralsight LLC, is led by Erin Gajdalo — previously its Chief Operating Officer — and has moved its headquarters from Utah to Texas. Vierra’s own framing of the opportunity on joining was about durability rather than turnaround: “There is a tremendous opportunity to drive sustained revenue growth and create long-term value. I look forward to working closely with the team to enhance our go-to-market execution, strengthen customer relationships, and contribute to the next chapter of innovation.”

Education

No educational record for Steve Vierra could be established from any named source. Pluralsight’s leadership page publishes degrees for other members of its executive team and none for him, and the company’s own appointment release names no institution. The field is left empty rather than estimated.
