Executive Summary
Shane Trigg runs AppFolio, the Santa Barbara company whose cloud platform property managers use to operate their businesses, and since 29 June 2026 he has also chaired its board. The chairmanship marks a generational handover: Andreas von Blottnitz had held it since 2007, close to the company’s beginning, and retired alongside another long-serving director. Trigg is an internal appointment twice over — he ran AppFolio’s real estate business for three years before becoming chief executive in March 2023, and he took the chair as a sitting CEO and director. The numbers behind the promotion are unambiguous. AppFolio reported $950.8 million of revenue for 2025, up 20%, and crossed $1 billion on a trailing twelve-month basis in the second quarter of 2026.

Professional Journey
Trigg’s career has circled the same industry for two decades. He spent 2004 to 2011 at Intuit, in the division then called Intuit Real Estate Solutions and now known as MRI Software, rising to Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. That is property management software — the same market AppFolio serves — approached from inside one of the incumbents.
He then moved to Salesforce for eight years, from 2012 to 2020, as a senior vice president first in Marketing Cloud and later in Commerce Cloud. Both are acquired businesses that Salesforce had to turn into parts of a platform, and running them is a different discipline from running a single product: multi-cloud selling, partner ecosystems and the question of how a suite holds together commercially.
He joined AppFolio in April 2020 as President and General Manager of its real estate business, bringing both halves of that background — the domain from Intuit, the platform operating experience from Salesforce — to the company’s core market. In March 2023 he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer and joined the board.
Under him AppFolio has grown substantially. Revenue reached $794.2 million in 2024 and $950.8 million in 2025, a 20% increase the company attributes mainly to greater use of its electronic payment, tenant screening and risk mitigation services by property managers and residents, alongside 8% growth in the number of property management units on the platform. In the second quarter of 2026 the company reported 19% revenue growth and expanding profitability, and Trigg marked the trailing-twelve-month revenue crossing $1 billion as a milestone reflecting customers’ own success — framing the company’s AI work in the same terms, as AI that works because it knows the operator’s business.
On 26 June 2026 AppFolio’s board appointed him Chairman, effective three days later, when von Blottnitz and Janet Kerr retired from the board. The company paired the move with a counterweight rather than leaving it unqualified: it created the position of Lead Independent Director and appointed Winifred Webb to it, and Trigg receives no additional compensation for chairing. Diya Jolly, chief product and technology officer of Xero, and Michael Yang joined the board as independent directors the same day.
