Professional Journey

Trivedi trained as an electrical engineer, taking a master’s at the University of Alabama and a doctorate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, then added an MBA in finance at Duke - a combination that reads less like a change of direction than a decision to be the person in the room who can argue both the physics and the capital allocation. He began in industry at JDS Uniphase, the optical components company, where he held a succession of general management and corporate development roles during the years when that business was learning, expensively, what happens when optical capacity is built ahead of demand.

In January 2010 he joined Belden, the signal transmission company, as a Corporate Vice President, and simultaneously took the presidency of Trapeze Networks, a Belden wireless business. The corporate development brief was the substantive one: Belden spent that decade buying its way from cable and connectivity into industrial networking and then into cybersecurity, and Trivedi was among the people doing the buying. In March 2013 he moved from assembling the portfolio to running it, becoming President of Belden’s Network Solutions business for Industrial IT, IoT and Cybersecurity - a segment that came to include Tripwire, the security configuration and integrity monitoring company. He held that role until November 2019.

He joined A10 Networks the following month, in December 2019, as President and Chief Executive Officer, and was appointed to the board at the same time. In September 2020 the board made him its Chairperson, consolidating the three roles he holds today. The company he inherited had a defensible position in application delivery and DDoS defence but had struggled to convert it, and his approach has been to press on disciplined organic growth, gross margin and cash generation rather than on acquisition-led expansion - the opposite of the playbook he executed at Belden, and arguably informed by having seen its costs from the inside.

That focus has become more tractable as the market moved toward him. Demand for high-capacity traffic management and DDoS mitigation in front of AI infrastructure has given A10’s core competence a new application, and the company has publicised selection by large hyperscale customers for exactly that work. Trivedi has continued to sign the company’s quarterly certifications personally, most recently in August 2026.
