Executive Summary

Sam Zayed is Chief Revenue Officer of Xactly, the San Jose company whose software handles sales performance management, incentive compensation and revenue planning for sales organisations. He joined in May 2024 after chief revenue officer roles at Sendbird and Conga, and earlier ran sales at Apptio as SVP through its Nasdaq listing and its take-private by Vista Equity Partners. Xactly has been through the same move: Vista took it private in 2017. Zayed therefore sells software that sales leaders use to pay and plan their own teams, and much of his record is at software companies whose ownership changed while he was there.

Career Highlights

  • Appointed Chief Revenue Officer of Xactly on 7 May 2024. The company’s leadership page still lists him in that role in September 2026.
  • Served as Chief Revenue Officer of Sendbird and of Conga, where Xactly says his teams managed and delivered hundreds of millions in annual revenue.
  • SVP of Sales at Apptio. Xactly credits his work there with helping the company reach its Nasdaq IPO and its later acquisition by Vista Equity Partners, completed in January 2019.
  • Has led field teams across sales, customer success, professional services, partners, marketing and operations.

Professional Journey

Xactly describes Zayed as a sales leader with more than two decades of experience growing revenue at both private and public technology companies. The part of that career it documents begins at Apptio, which sells technology business management software. He was SVP of Sales there, and Xactly says his work on customer acquisition and renewals played a key role in Apptio’s Nasdaq IPO and its later take-private by Vista Equity Partners. Apptio’s own filing shows that the Vista acquisition closed on 10 January 2019.

He went on to be chief revenue officer twice: at Conga, which makes contract and revenue lifecycle software, and at Sendbird, which provides in-app chat and communications APIs. Xactly’s announcement says the teams he led in those roles managed and delivered hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue. It does not date either role.

Xactly appointed him Chief Revenue Officer in May 2024. CEO Arnab Mishra called his record “the perfect match for the CRO of Xactly”, and Zayed said he was joining a company “leading the AI transformation for the revenue and customer organizations.” The company was founded in 2005 and listed on the NYSE, then went private in July 2017 when Vista Equity Partners acquired it and ended its registration with the SEC. As CRO he leads its global revenue organisation. The company’s 2026 announcements include AI agents for revenue planning and compensation, an agent-to-agent integration with ServiceNow, and a Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader placement for sales performance management.
