Schurk spent the formative part of his career at Bazaarvoice, the ratings, reviews and user-generated content platform, where he stayed more than eight years and moved through progressively senior sales and client success roles. He finished that tenure as Vice President of Sales and Client Success, running a team of over 120 people and overseeing a stretch in which company revenue grew roughly fourfold. The length of the tenure matters to the shape of his career: it gave him experience of a company at several distinct stages rather than a single snapshot.

In 2021 he moved to Top Hat, the higher-education student-engagement platform, as Chief Revenue Officer, a hire Top Hat announced in August of that year alongside its first Chief Legal Officer as part of a deliberate build-out of its executive bench for global growth. He framed the move in personal terms at the time, describing himself as a first-generation college student who had experienced the impact of higher education directly. At Top Hat he scaled the platform’s reach past 750 universities and integrated multiple acquisitions.

He left Top Hat around the start of 2024, at roughly the same time as Top Hat’s CEO Joe Rohrlich, and joined Auctane, the Texas-based e-commerce shipping software group whose brands include ShipStation. There he ran the revenue organization, extending enterprise and commercial sales motions across both North America and EMEA.

In October 2025 Recurly named him Chief Revenue Officer. The appointment reunited him with Rohrlich, by then Recurly’s CEO, who announced the hire. At Recurly, Schurk has taken on a subscription-economy platform whose customers depend on recurring-revenue mechanics, a category where the go-to-market challenge is less about initial acquisition than about durable expansion — the problem set he has spent his career on.
