Executive Summary
Kevin Moore is Chief Revenue Officer of Abnormal AI, the San Francisco company that applies behavioural AI to email, messaging and identity security. He has held the role since April 2020, which places him at the company almost from the beginning — Abnormal emerged from stealth in late 2019 — and through its growth into a business that says it protects more than a quarter of the Fortune 500, and through its rename from Abnormal Security. The hire made a particular kind of sense at the time: Moore had spent thirteen years at Proofpoint, the incumbent Abnormal set out to displace, from its first product shipment through to life after its IPO. Abnormal recruited the person who knew how the market it was attacking had been sold in the first place.

Professional Journey
Moore studied Business Administration at the University of San Francisco and built his career in enterprise security sales. The formative stretch was Proofpoint, where he spent thirteen years and rose to Vice President covering North America, APAC and global strategic accounts — responsible, by the company’s later description, for the majority of Proofpoint’s revenue. He was there from the first product shipment through the IPO and beyond, which is an unusually complete view of a security company’s commercial life cycle: the phase where nobody has heard of the category, the phase where the category becomes a budget line, and the phase where the product is the incumbent everyone else is trying to unseat.
He then moved to Vectra as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations, running all direct and channel sales globally while the company established itself in network detection and response.
In April 2020 he joined Abnormal Security as Chief Revenue Officer, charged with scaling its worldwide sales team, operations and go-to-market engine. Abnormal had emerged from stealth only months earlier, in November 2019, with $24 million in Series A funding from Greylock Partners, and was selling an argument rather than a product category: that targeted email attacks succeed because they look like ordinary correspondence, and that the way to catch them is to model what normal behaviour looks like inside an organisation rather than to scan messages for known-bad signatures. Founder and CEO Evan Reiser, whose team had come to security from adtech, put the hire in terms of scale-up experience; Moore put it in terms of the opportunity, saying email security was ripe for disruption.
Six years on, he remains Chief Revenue Officer at a substantially different company. Abnormal has rebranded as Abnormal AI, widened from inbound email into account takeover protection, messaging security, data loss prevention, posture management and identity threat protection, and describes itself as protecting more than 25% of the Fortune 500. Moore sits on a leadership team of fourteen under Reiser, alongside a CTO, CFO, CIO, chief legal officer and chief people officer, with a separate SVP of Global Enterprise Sales reporting into the revenue organisation.
