Executive Summary

Ken Ferguson is Chief Revenue Officer of Planful, the San Francisco maker of financial performance management software for planning, budgeting, consolidation and reporting. Planful appointed him in July 2026 to lead its global revenue organization as it grows a base of more than 1,500 customers and builds AI into the financial close, planning and reporting. He has spent nearly 25 years selling analytics software into the office of the CFO and HR, most recently running Adaptive Planning’s North American business at Workday, and has twice been a chief revenue officer, including at Orgvue.

Career Highlights

  • Appointed Chief Revenue Officer of Planful in July 2026, joining an executive team led by CEO John Herr.
  • Ran Adaptive Planning’s North American business at Workday.
  • Chief Revenue Officer of Orgvue, responsible for global field sales, marketing, partnerships, customer success and revenue operations.
  • Led the global sales organization at Visier, and led revenue teams at Virtualitics.
  • An early employee at Workday, where he helped build its Major Account teams.
  • Limited Partner at Stage 2 Capital, advising early-stage B2B startups on go-to-market.

Professional Journey

Ferguson built his career in enterprise software sales, with experience at Oracle, Aria Systems and Teradata before he joined Workday as an early employee and helped build its Major Account teams. That set the pattern of the rest of his career: selling systems of record and analytics to large, complex organisations, with clients including Goodyear, Nationwide Insurance, KeyBank, Johnson & Johnson and Macy’s.

He moved into companies applying analytics to people and finance decisions. At Visier he led the global sales organization. He then became Chief Revenue Officer of Orgvue, with responsibility for field sales, marketing, partnerships, customer success and revenue operations. Planful’s announcement adds Virtualitics to the list of businesses where he has led revenue teams, and says he has held the chief revenue officer title twice.

Before Planful he returned to Workday, where he ran Adaptive Planning’s North American business.

Planful named him Chief Revenue Officer on 21 July 2026. CEO John Herr said Ferguson had “spent his career right where finance and AI meet”, and credited the company’s “strong first half” as the momentum he would build on. Ferguson said he had come because “the product earns the confidence of the people who use it every day”. Planful is a private company backed by Vector Capital, with customers in more than 100 countries including Bose, the Boston Red Sox, Five Guys and Specialized.

Alongside his operating roles he is a Limited Partner at Stage 2 Capital, where he helps early-stage B2B startups design predictable, value-based go-to-market strategies. He is also an experienced professional guitarist and musician.
