Executive Summary
Jeff Depa is Chief Revenue Officer of ThoughtSpot, the Mountain View company that has spent the last three years remaking itself from a search-driven analytics product into what it now calls an agentic analytics platform. He joined in August 2023 at a specific and awkward moment: the company had just passed $150 million in revenue and bought Mode Analytics for $200 million, which doubled its customer base and gave it a second, entirely different product aimed at a different buyer. Selling one product to business users is a different motion from selling two products to business users and data teams at once, and that multi-product, multi-segment problem is precisely what his career had consisted of — as Chief Revenue Officer first of Lucidworks and then of Gainsight, where he integrated several acquisitions into one go-to-market organisation.
Career Highlights
- Chief Revenue Officer of ThoughtSpot since 15 August 2023, responsible for go-to-market strategy across the whole customer lifecycle.
- Previously Chief Revenue Officer of Gainsight, where he drove record growth across existing and new markets, opened Asia-Pacific and Japan, and integrated multiple acquisitions into a broadened product portfolio.
- Before that, Chief Revenue Officer of Lucidworks, which he scaled globally while capturing nearly half of the Fortune 1000 as customers.
- Earlier sales leadership roles at DataStax, Oracle and Sun Microsystems.
- Credited by ThoughtSpot on arrival with more than twenty years of building, scaling and leading customer-focused high-performance teams in high-growth SaaS.
- Has built out ThoughtSpot’s sales leadership, including hiring Scott Parsons as SVP of Sales for the Americas in August 2025.
Professional Journey
Depa’s career runs through enterprise infrastructure and data software. He held sales leadership roles at Sun Microsystems, Oracle and DataStax — a chain that moves from hardware and systems, through the largest enterprise software vendor, to a distributed database company — before taking his first chief revenue officer role at Lucidworks, the enterprise search company. ThoughtSpot’s account of that period is that he scaled the business globally and won nearly half of the Fortune 1000 as customers.
He then became Chief Revenue Officer of Gainsight, the customer success software company, where he ran the global go-to-market organisation across every segment, geography and channel. Two things about that role matter for what came next: he opened the Asia-Pacific and Japan market, and he integrated multiple acquisitions into a single selling organisation as Gainsight broadened its product portfolio. Both are the hard parts of scaling a software company past a single product in a single region.
ThoughtSpot hired him in August 2023, directly off the back of a year in which it had done exactly that. It had surpassed $150 million in revenue, grown SaaS annual recurring revenue by 100%, and acquired Mode Analytics for $200 million — a deal that doubled its customer base, established a presence in Kolkata, and gave it a code-first product for data teams alongside its natural-language search product for business users. Sudheesh Nair, then chief executive, framed the hire around a philosophy rather than a quota: “While traditional sales organizations focus on how to get customers to buy the most product, the most strategic and impactful companies have made sales truly the voice of the customer.”
Depa’s own framing on arrival was about breadth of audience: the opportunity, as he put it, for businesses “from G2000 to digital natives” to put data “into the hands of every employee”, and to sell “from data teams to C-Suite, to frontline employees”. That is a statement about coverage design, and it is consistent with what he has built since. In August 2025 he hired Scott Parsons as Senior Vice President of Sales for the Americas, describing him as the right leader to drive sales across the region.
The company around him has changed twice over. Ketan Karkhanis replaced Sudheesh Nair as chief executive in September 2024, and ThoughtSpot has repositioned from AI-powered analytics to agentic analytics, shipping Spotter and a family of BI agents and being named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and BI Platforms.
Education
No education record could be established. ThoughtSpot publishes no executive biographies, and its detailed 2023 announcement of his appointment — which covers his career at length — says nothing about where he studied.
