Professional Journey

Zur served in the Israeli Air Force from 2002 to 2005 as a Control Tower Manager, a role in air traffic coordination where the work is continuous logistical sequencing under conditions that punish error. He then read law at Tel Aviv University, graduating in 2012 after a student exchange at the University of Virginia School of Law, and clerked for the Deputy President of the Supreme Court of Israel.

Rather than continuing in law he moved into commerce, working as a Segment Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble and later managing sales and customer success at monday.com, the Israeli work management software company. He then went to Harvard Business School, completing his MBA in 2017.

Veho began there, from a complaint. Zur’s own online orders kept going wrong — late, missing, left in the wrong place — and the failures were not attributable to the retailers he had bought from. Last-mile delivery is the segment of the supply chain that carriers optimize for cost across enormous volumes, which means individual packages and individual customers are, structurally, not the priority. For a direct-to-consumer brand, that leaves the single physical interaction a customer has with the purchase in the hands of a party with no stake in the brand.

Veho’s approach was to rebuild that last leg around the retailer’s customer rather than around carrier route density, using a network of warehouses and crowdsourced driver partners with the capacity for scheduled windows, live tracking, and returns collected from the door. Zur raised $350,000 in seed funding from executives inside FedEx and UPS — an early signal, given that those are the incumbents the company competes against — and won Harvard Business School’s New Venture Competition in 2017.

The company grew to unicorn valuation, exceeding $1.5 billion with more than $300 million raised in total, and Goldman Sachs named Zur one of its Most Exceptional Entrepreneurs of 2024. He is a member of the Forbes Business Council.
