Executive Summary

Alasdair McLean-Foreman is founder and Chief Executive Officer of Teikametrics, a Boston company that sells an AI platform for brands on online marketplaces. The platform, branded ARI for Artificial Retail Intelligence, covers advertising, catalogue listings, inventory and analytics on Amazon, Walmart and TikTok Shop. He came to the business as a seller himself, having become one of Amazon’s early third-party retailers in 2003. Teikametrics says it has raised about $65 million in venture capital and processes more than $10 billion in marketplace transactions.

Career Highlights

  • Founded Teikametrics in 2015 and has led it as CEO since. SEC filings name him as executive officer, director and promoter.
  • Built the ARI platform, which spans ads, catalogue, insights and inventory for marketplace sellers.
  • Raised about $65 million from investors including Jump Capital and Centana Growth Partners.
  • Founded HDO Sport in 2003, one of the early third-party sellers on Amazon, selling sporting goods.
  • Founded Traineo, a fitness platform, before Teikametrics.
  • Holds a BA in Economics from Harvard, where he captained the men’s indoor track team.

Professional Journey

McLean-Foreman studied economics at Harvard University. He was also a serious middle-distance runner: he captained the men’s indoor track team, earned First-Team All-Ivy honours and represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland internationally at 800m, 1500m and the mile.

His business career began in marketplace retail. In 2003 he founded HDO Sport and became one of Amazon’s early third-party retailers, selling high-end sporting goods at a time when outside sellers on Amazon were still a new idea. He next founded Traineo, a fitness platform.

He founded Teikametrics in 2015. The company says it began in his Harvard dorm room as repricing software, built to solve a seller’s problem of keeping prices competitive on a marketplace. It grew into a broader optimisation platform for brands on Amazon and later Walmart and TikTok Shop. The current version, ARI, puts advertising, listings, inventory and insights in one system and combines automated optimisation with human marketplace specialists. Teikametrics, Inc. filed a Form D with the SEC in October 2021 from 280 Summer Street in Boston, naming McLean-Foreman as an executive officer, director and promoter. The company says it has raised about $65 million from investors including Jump Capital and Centana Growth Partners.

He remains founder and CEO. He also co-hosts the Human in the Loop podcast and speaks at industry conferences, including eTail.
