Executive Summary

Gina Perrelli is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Stay AI, a New York subscription commerce platform for direct-to-consumer brands on Shopify. The company addresses the half of subscription economics that most tooling ignores. Subscription businesses are usually built to acquire subscribers efficiently, and then discover that churn quietly determines whether the model works at all — a brand can win on acquisition and still fail if it cannot keep people past the third shipment. Stay AI is built around that second problem: A/B-tested cancellation and retention offers, cross-sells, and subscription management a merchant can configure without engineering. Perrelli came to it from the agency side, having co-founded Lunar Solar Group and spent her career on lifecycle marketing.

Professional Journey

Perrelli attended Montclair State University and built her career in customer relationship management and lifecycle marketing — the discipline concerned with what happens after a customer has been acquired. Her work covered strategy, copy and design across email, SMS, push notifications and messenger programmes, identifying where revenue could be driven from existing customers rather than new ones, and improving the efficiency of the marketing stack a brand was already paying for.

She co-founded Lunar Solar Group, a group of marketing, creative and consulting firms, where she continues as an advisor. Agency work of that kind offers an unusual vantage point on a market: rather than seeing one brand’s problems deeply, you see the same problems recurring across dozens of them, which makes the systemic gaps obvious in a way they are not from inside a single company.

The gap that became Stay AI was in subscription retention. Direct-to-consumer brands adopted subscriptions rapidly because the recurring revenue improves both cash flow and valuation, and the available Shopify subscription tooling handled the mechanics competently — billing a customer on a schedule, managing the order. What it did not handle was the moment a customer decides to cancel, which is where the economics of the whole model are actually decided. Most platforms treated cancellation as a form to be submitted rather than as a decision that could be influenced.

Stay AI was built around that moment and the period leading to it: testing which offers retain which customers, surfacing cross-sells at points where they increase rather than jeopardize retention, and giving merchants drag-and-drop control over subscription logic without developer involvement. The company is backed by investors including BFG Partners, and Perrelli leads it as Chief Executive Officer.
