Helfer’s career has run through infrastructure and security vendors rather than applications. He held senior leadership roles at Juniper Networks and F5, both networking and application-delivery companies whose business depends heavily on resellers and service-provider partners, and then at GitLab, the DevOps platform, as it scaled its enterprise sales motion. Along the way he spent time working abroad for two employers; he holds dual US and Irish citizenship.

He moved into the top commercial seat at Mimecast as Chief Customer and Revenue Officer, taking ownership of both the revenue line and the customer organization at a cybersecurity company selling largely through partners. That combination — security, subscription revenue and an indirect route to market — is what Jamf recruited.

Jamf announced his appointment on 12 January 2026, effective immediately, with the release describing a “tightly integrated, partner-centric approach” and Helfer succeeding Liz Benz, the company’s Chief Sales Officer, whose exit at the end of January was disclosed to the SEC in a Form 8-K the same day. Then-CEO John Strosahl said Helfer’s “depth in enterprise sales and his proven success growing and scaling channel partnerships is exactly the expertise we need.”

The corporate ground then shifted underneath the role. Jamf had signed a merger agreement with affiliates of Francisco Partners on 28 October 2025; that deal closed on 30 January 2026, converting each share into $13.05 in cash and leaving Jamf a wholly owned subsidiary. The stock was delisted from Nasdaq and deregistered in February 2026, and the entire pre-merger board, Strosahl included, stepped down. The officers of the company, however, carried over into the surviving corporation. Jamf’s leadership page now lists Beth Tschida as chief executive, with Helfer still holding the Chief Revenue Officer role under her.
