Executive Summary

Stephan Schweizer is Chief Executive Officer of Nevis Security AG, the Zurich company that makes customer identity and access management software. The company says its software secures more than 80 per cent of online banking transactions in Switzerland. He has run Nevis since 2020, when it was spun off from the Swiss software house AdNovum Informatik as an independent company. Before that he had led the build-up, operation and development of the Nevis infrastructure, so he brought long experience of the product to the new company. As CEO he has taken a technology built for Swiss banks into insurance, healthcare and online gambling, and pushed passwordless login as the company’s main pitch.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Executive Officer of Nevis Security AG since its 2020 founding as a spin-off of AdNovum Informatik AG.
  • Before the spin-off, led the build-up, operation and further development of the Nevis infrastructure.
  • Described as having 22 years of professional and management experience in security solutions.
  • Leads a company that says it protects more than 500 portals and over 80 per cent of Swiss e-banking transactions.
  • Led the 2024 partnership with Swiss Casinos to bring passwordless, FIDO-certified login to iGaming.

Professional Journey

Schweizer’s career has been in security software, and most of it has centred on one product. Before 2020, Nevis was a security suite within AdNovum Informatik AG, the Zurich software company, and Schweizer led its build-up, operation and further development. Over that period Nevis became a standard part of Swiss online banking. The company now says its technology protects more than 80 per cent of the country’s e-banking transactions.

In 2020 the business was separated from AdNovum as Nevis Security AG, and Schweizer became Chief Executive Officer. His brief was to build the Nevis Security Suite as a business on the international market. The company now has about 100 people in Switzerland, Germany, the UK and Hungary. It sells two main products: the Nevis ID platform for customer identity and access management, and the Nevis Authentication Cloud, a passwordless, FIDO-based authentication service.

Under his leadership Nevis has moved beyond banking. In July 2024 it announced a partnership with Swiss Casinos, working with Playtech, to give online players biometric, passwordless login on their phones. Schweizer called the partnership a crucial step in the company’s strategy for the iGaming industry. Nevis also formed a partnership with the North American iGaming platform Strive Gaming in 2025, and in November 2025 it partnered with Melbourne-based CSW-IT to enter the Australian market.

He also writes on identity security for the German trade press, including Computerwoche. His articles have covered passwordless FIDO2 authentication, the cost trade-offs between cloud and on-premises deployment, and, in October 2025, how access controls defend against ransomware. The management team he leads includes a Chief Product Officer and a Chief Revenue Officer. The board is chaired by Adrian Bult, a former Swisscom executive board member.
