Executive Summary
Rob Coupland is Chief Executive Officer of Pulsant, the UK digital infrastructure company that runs a national platform of regional data centres from its base in Maidenhead. He joined in 2019 after senior roles across the European data centre industry, including Managing Director EMEA of Digital Realty and roughly a decade at TelecityGroup, where he served as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer. Under his leadership Pulsant has, in its own words, repositioned from a generalised mid-market managed service provider into a focused digital infrastructure provider, with a strategy built around regional capacity outside London.

- Chief Executive Officer of Pulsant since 2019, and a director of Pulsant group companies since October 2019 according to Companies House.

- Began his career at Cable & Wireless, where he spent 12 years.
Professional Journey
Coupland began his career at Cable & Wireless, where he spent 12 years during the deregulation of the UK telecoms industry and the early growth of the internet. He then moved to TelecityGroup, the European data centre operator, after what he has described as a speculative approach, and held a variety of roles there over around ten years, including Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer. He went on to become Managing Director EMEA of Digital Realty, the data centre and colocation company.
He joined Pulsant in 2019 as Chief Executive Officer. Pulsant describes his background as growing data centre platforms through a combination of organic growth and mergers and acquisitions, and credits him with moving the company away from a generalised mid-market managed services model toward a focused digital infrastructure business. That strategy centres on regional edge capacity for enterprises outside the capital. Pulsant now operates 14 UK data centres linked by a national network, and in February 2026 Coupland announced the completion of a £10 million, 1.2MW high-density expansion in Milton Keynes, which he positioned as an alternative to constrained and costly London data centres.
Beyond Pulsant, he has been involved with techUK’s Data Centre Council, including its work on the Climate Change Agreement for data centres.
