Subramaniam joined Federal Express in 1991 and held management and marketing analyst positions through 1999. He then took regional leadership roles: vice president for Asia-Pacific electronic commerce and customer service, vice president of marketing for Asia-Pacific from 2000 to 2003, and senior vice president for Canada from 2003 to 2006.
He returned to marketing at the corporate level as senior vice president of marketing at FedEx Services from 2006 and executive vice president of marketing and communications from 2013, and became FedEx’s executive vice president and chief marketing and communications officer in 2017, overseeing advertising, brand, product development, e-commerce and revenue planning, according to the proxy.
