Professional Journey

Evanko earned a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science at Pennsylvania State University and joined Cigna in 1998 through the Actuarial Executive Development Program, which he later led. He held senior actuarial and financial roles in Singapore and Hong Kong, and was President of the U.S. Individual Business from 2013 and of the Government Business from 2017.

He became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in January 2021, adding the role of President and CEO of Cigna Healthcare in January 2024. In March 2025 he became President and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth Health Services.

The board named him chief executive in February 2026, he joined the board on 1 April 2026 and took over as CEO on 1 July 2026. He serves on the boards of TriNet and The Connecticut Science Center.
