Nayyar trained first as a mechanical engineer at Osmania University in Hyderabad before taking a master’s in computer science at the University of Houston, and later completed the Stanford Executive Program. She built her career in large enterprise software organisations, beginning with senior roles at BMC Software and SAP — the latter during the period in which the German software group was pushing its customer base toward cloud and in-memory platforms, which is where her product orientation was formed.

At Ivanti she was President and Chief Product Officer, responsible for the product portfolio of a company assembled from multiple acquisitions in IT asset, endpoint and security management.
