Executive Summary

Navid Asgari is Chief Executive Officer of Streamline Healthcare Solutions, the Oak Brook, Illinois company behind SmartCare, an integrated electronic health record and practice management platform built for behavioral health and human services providers. He joined as CEO in March 2024, more than two decades after co-founders David Ryland and Javed Husain started the company in 2003. He came from CompuGroup Medical, where he was Chief Business Officer responsible for U.S. business operations, and he has also held a leadership position at Epic Systems. Streamline builds only for behavioral health and human services organisations, a specialised corner of health IT whose customers range from outpatient mental health services to residential treatment programmes.

Career Highlights

  • Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Streamline Healthcare Solutions on 11 March 2024, charged with customer experience and investment in the SmartCare platform.

  • Held a run of operating roles at CompuGroup Medical: VP of Services and Support, Head of Operations and General Manager.
  • Held a leadership position at Epic Systems.
  • In 2026 led Streamline’s launch of SMARTscribe and SMARTcomply, its AI-enabled documentation and compliance tools, and the SMARTdispense module for medication-assisted treatment.
  • Holds a B.A. in Economics from UC Irvine.

Professional Journey

Asgari studied economics at the University of California, Irvine. He then spent more than 15 years in healthcare technology, by Streamline’s count, including a leadership position at Epic Systems.

Most of the career Streamline describes was in the U.S. business of CompuGroup Medical. He moved through services and support, operations and general management before becoming Chief Business Officer, overseeing U.S. business operations. Streamline’s biography says he worked directly with customers on their pain points, that the approach improved Net Promoter Scores, and that CompuGroup Medical grew rapidly in the U.S. under his leadership.

Streamline named him CEO on 11 March 2024. The announcement quoted both co-founders, David Ryland and Javed Husain, who started the company in 2003; Ryland said Asgari embraced the mission and vision the two had when they founded the company. Asgari’s brief was customer satisfaction and faster investment in SmartCare, which covers the behavioral health continuum from outpatient assessment through residential treatment.

Since then the company has added AI to that platform. In April 2026 it launched SMARTscribe and SMARTcomply, AI-enabled documentation and compliance tools embedded in SmartCare, and SMARTdispense, a module for medication-assisted treatment workflows. Introducing the AI tools, Asgari said documentation and compliance “should not come at the expense of time with clients”. In February 2026 he appointed Danny Gladden, a licensed clinical social worker, as Chief Clinical Officer. Customer wins announced during his tenure include STEPS and OhioGuidestone, and California’s CalMHSA named Eleos as its statewide AI partner to work alongside SmartCare.
