Professional Journey

Tabush started Tabush Group in 2001 while he was still a senior at Yeshiva University, working out of his dorm room, and took a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems the same year. The premise was simple and has not changed: small and midsize professional firms need enterprise-grade IT and have neither the headcount nor the inclination to build it. He built the business around that customer — law firms in particular, along with accounting and other professional-services organisations — rather than around a technology stack, which is why the company’s shape has changed several times while its client profile has not.

The first version of the business was conventional managed services and on-premises infrastructure support. The second was the private cloud: rather than managing servers in a client’s closet, Tabush Group moved the workload into infrastructure it controlled. The third, and the one that defines the company today, is Boxtop, launched in 2015. Boxtop is a cloud desktop — the user’s whole working environment, with applications, data, security controls and helpdesk support, delivered as a service and accessible from anywhere. Tabush led its initial development, and by 2017 the company was reporting 203 per cent year-on-year growth for the product. It has since been extended twice, with Boxtop Boost for users needing heavier resources and, in 2023, Boxtop Guardian, a 24/7 managed security service that reflects how much of a professional firm’s IT risk is now security rather than uptime.

In 2007, Tabush Group’s account of his career has him co-founding Bill4Time, a cloud-based time-tracking, billing and practice-management system aimed at law firms. Bill4Time went on to have a life of its own well outside Tabush’s orbit: it was acquired by Alpine Investors in 2017, combined with PracticePanther into ASG LegalTech in 2019, rebranded as Paradigm in 2021, and sold to Francisco Partners later that year in a deal reported at around $400m.
