Santos earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Universidade Federal da Bahia and master’s degrees in business administration and management of information technology at the University of Virginia. He served as a second lieutenant of infantry in the Brazilian Army Reserve Forces and was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company.

Over 15 years at Capital One he was executive vice president of the consumer bank for three years and then president of Retail and Direct Banking.

He joined Wells Fargo in November 2020 to lead work on growth segments and inclusion, became CEO of Consumer Lending in July 2022 and co-CEO of Consumer Banking and Lending in November 2025.
