Petno earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology at Wabash College and an MBA at the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business. He spent more than two decades in Global Investment Banking, where he led J.P. Morgan’s Global Natural Resources Group.
From 2012 he was Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Banking, expanding its U.S. business with mid-sized companies, government entities, not-for-profits and real estate clients, and launching an international mid-cap business in 30 countries. In 2024 he became Co-Head of Global Banking and oversaw the integration of the Commercial, Corporate and Investment Banking businesses, and in January 2025 Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Commercial & Investment Bank.
