Professional Journey
Medlin studied corporate communications and public affairs at Southern Methodist University and went on to earn a master’s degree in corporate communications at California State University, Fullerton.
His career has been built inside Dart Entities. The company’s own biography describes a progression through employee relations and safety and then business development and strategy, the operational and commercial sides of a warehousing business, before he was named Executive Vice President in 2017. In that role he and Larry Nelson, Dart’s Vice President of Operations, oversaw an expansion into four additional states that added 3.4 million square feet of operated space. In July 2018 he announced the opening of a Dart Warehouse Corporation facility in Pendergrass, Georgia, telling customers the company had “kept our promise to continue to grow and service our customers to their expectations and needs.”
Dart itself is an unusually old logistics business. Rod Dedeaux, the legendary USC baseball coach, founded it in 1938 with a single truck; it grew into a closely held group of trucking, warehousing, equipment and property companies based in Los Angeles. His son Terry Dedeaux led it as Chairman and CEO from 2005 until his death in June 2025. By the time of a 2024 industry feature, Dart described itself as a full-service 3PL focused on multi-tenant logistics, e-commerce fulfillment and transportation, and was building out a brokerage division, Trojan Logistics. Medlin, quoted there as president, summarised the company’s approach: “When we partner with someone, I want Dart to be invisible to our customer’s customer, and that’s what we strive for.”
