Professional Journey

Hoefflin’s career began in supply chain software. From 1990 to 1998 he co-founded and ran Software Architects, Inc., a supply chain software provider, as President. In 1998 he joined RedPrairie, the Wisconsin warehouse management company. According to the company’s 2009 registration statement, over the next seven years he was Senior Vice President of Implementation Services, Warehouse System Business Unit President/COO, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Product Development. Softeon later credited him as co-developer of the warehouse management industry’s first component-based technology platform.

He left RedPrairie in 2005 and set up a consultancy, nextsevenLLC, as an executive business consultant. At the start of 2008 he returned to RedPrairie as Executive Vice President, Products and Marketing, and was one of its named executive officers when it filed for an initial public offering in November 2009. RedPrairie is now part of Blue Yonder.

His later roles, which the available sources do not date, took him into other kinds of enterprise software. He held executive leadership roles at Kewill, a supply chain software firm later rebranded BluJay and now part of e2open. He was a senior executive at Empower Software Solutions, a workforce management company. He was also president and CEO of CBORD / Horizon Software, a food and nutrition software business owned by Roper Technologies. Softeon describes this experience as spanning global logistics, human resources management and food and nutrition, and says he scaled organisations from start-up to $200 million in revenue.

Softeon named him CEO in December 2022. At the time it was a Reston, Virginia provider of cloud warehouse management, warehouse execution and distributed order management software, backed by growth investor Warburg Pincus. In December 2025 IFS signed a definitive agreement to acquire Softeon. Hoefflin called the deal “an extraordinary opportunity to accelerate our innovation in warehouse management”. Softeon joined IFS in March 2026 to form IFS Softeon, and he remains its CEO. In April 2026 Supply & Demand Chain Executive gave him a Pros to Know award in its Leaders in Excellence category.

Outside work he holds Green Bay Packers season tickets. He also follows Formula 1 and has been to several races with his son.
