Executive Summary

Greg Hewitt is Chief Executive Officer of DHL Express U.S., the American arm of DHL Group’s international express business, which he has led since January 2016. He is a DHL career executive: he joined the company in Canada in 2003, worked through commercial sales leadership with assignments in Europe and the United States, ran DHL Express Canada from 2011 to 2014, and then managed the Northeast U.S. region before taking the top U.S. role. His public message has been consistent across a decade in the job, that for DHL in the U.S. international shipping is the whole business rather than one part of it, and he has spent that time arguing for cross-border trade as a growth route for businesses of every size.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Executive Officer of DHL Express U.S. since 4 January 2016, leading the Express U.S. Management Board and serving on the Express Americas Management Board.
  • President of DHL Express Canada from 2011 to 2014.
  • Led the team that negotiated the sale of DHL Express’s domestic business in Canada to TransForce in 2011.
  • Area General Manager for DHL Express’s Northeast U.S. region from November 2014.
  • In September 2026 announced Heavy Weight Express, DHL’s express air service for U.S. shipments of up to 2,200 pounds per piece.

Professional Journey

Hewitt began with DHL in Canada in 2003. Over the following years he held several vice-president positions in commercial sales, with international assignments in Europe and the United States, which is to say he came up through the customer-facing side of the business rather than operations or finance.

In 2011 he became President of DHL Express Canada. The same year he led the team that negotiated the sale of DHL Express’s domestic Canadian business to TransForce.

He moved to the U.S. business in November 2014 as Area General Manager for the Northeast region. A year later, in November 2015, DHL announced that Mike Parra would become CEO of DHL Express Americas on the retirement of Stephen Fenwick, and that Hewitt would succeed Parra at the head of the U.S. business, leading the Express U.S. Management Board and joining the Americas board, effective 4 January 2016.

As CEO he has been a regular voice in the trade press on peak season, trade flows and the economics of cross-border e-commerce. “International is not just part of our business, it is our business,” he told Logistics Management in 2019. In September 2026, from the company’s U.S. headquarters in Plantation, Florida, he announced Heavy Weight Express, which carries shipments of up to 2,200 pounds per piece and 6,600 pounds per shipment by express air, and framed it as a response to U.S. shippers dealing with new tariffs, shifting trade rules and tighter supply chains.

Outside work, his speaker biography says he takes part in the WE movement and has travelled with it to Kenya, India and Ecuador to help build schools and medical clinics.
