Executive Summary

George Patsis is co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Obrela, a cybersecurity services company founded in 2010 that is headquartered in London and runs its business and operations centre in Athens, with regional offices in Frankfurt, Riyadh and Dubai. Obrela sells managed detection and response alongside what it calls managed risk and controls: continuous monitoring of threats combined with the governance side of security, such as compliance, policy and supply-chain risk, delivered from its own Swordfish platform. Patsis has led the company through its largest structural change, the 2022 acquisition of the Greek security analytics firm Encode and the 2023 decision to merge both businesses under one Obrela brand, and he sits on the CREST European Union Council.

Career Highlights

  • Co-founder and chief executive of Obrela; named President and CEO of Obrela Corporation in the company’s March 2023 announcement.
  • Director of Obrela Security Industries Limited since June 2011 and of Obrela Holdco Limited since October 2016, according to Companies House.
  • Led the acquisition of Encode, announced in February 2022, which Obrela said gave it more than 200 cybersecurity employees and more than 120 international customers across five regions.
  • Oversaw the 2023 rebrand to a single Obrela Corporation identity; the company reported 34% employee growth and 35% revenue growth in 2022.
  • Opened a German subsidiary in the Frankfurt area in August 2021 to serve the DACH market.
  • Elected to the CREST European Union Council, announced in March 2022.
  • Selected as an Endeavor High-Impact Entrepreneur in 2013, according to his speaker biography.

Professional Journey

Patsis trained as an engineer and then as a security specialist. He studied electrical and electronic engineering at University College London and holds an MSc in Information Security Management from Royal Holloway, University of London. His published biography says he spent the early part of his career developing and implementing large-scale security programmes for Global 500 corporations, though it does not name them.

Obrela was founded in 2010, and Patsis has been a director of its UK operating company, Obrela Security Industries Limited, since its incorporation in June 2011. The company’s pitch has stayed the same: security monitoring on its own is not enough. Obrela argues that threat detection has to be tied to operational security and risk management so that clients move “from Threat Assessment and Detection to complete Situational Awareness”, in the words Patsis used when the Encode deal was announced. In 2013 he was selected for the Endeavor Global Network of high-impact entrepreneurs.

International expansion followed. In 2021 Obrela set up Obrela Security Industries GmbH near Frankfurt and appointed Andreas Walbrodt to run it and to serve as Chief Commercial Officer. Patsis said at the time that demand in Central Europe, especially the DACH region, had been growing steadily. In February 2022 Obrela announced that it had acquired Encode, a Greek provider of security analytics and response orchestration. Obrela said the combined business was one of the largest cybersecurity providers in EMEA, with offices in five regions, more than 200 security staff and more than 120 international customers. The same year CREST, the not-for-profit accreditation body for the technical security industry, elected him to its European Union Council.

In March 2023 Obrela completed the integration and brought both companies under one Obrela Corporation brand, with Patsis as President and CEO. The company reported 34% employee growth and 35% revenue growth across its core services in 2022. Its newsroom has since recorded inclusion in The Forrester Wave for European MDR services in Q3 2025, and in 2026 Obrela became a founding signatory of the CREST AI Charter. He is a member of the Athens Club.
