Executive Summary
Curtis Campbell is President and Chief Executive Officer of H&R Block, the Kansas City company best known for assisted and do-it-yourself tax preparation, which also runs the Block Advisors and Wave small-business services and the Spruce mobile banking app. He took over on 1 January 2026 from Jeffrey J. Jones II, after about eighteen months as the company’s President of Global Consumer Tax and Chief Product Officer. His background is unusual for the role in one specific respect: before arriving at Block he had spent five years running TaxAct, a direct competitor in consumer tax software, and before that worked on tax products at Intuit, so he has led product on three sides of the U.S. consumer tax market. He is also an independent director of the banking technology company Jack Henry & Associates.

Professional Journey
Campbell studied business administration at The Citadel and took a Master of International Business at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business. His early career was in technology hardware and infrastructure, in positions of increasing responsibility at Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, before he moved to Amazon Web Services in 2012 as a general manager leading product and technology teams.
In 2014 he joined Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, where over three years he held vice president roles leading product management, strategy, analytics and innovation in the tax space. He then spent 2017 and 2018 at Capital One as Managing Vice President for the Consumer Auto business, responsible for its vision and strategy.
Blucora named him President of TaxAct in October 2018. TaxAct was then Blucora’s tax software business, sitting alongside its wealth management arm, and Campbell reported to Blucora’s chief executive. He later also held the title of President of Software at Blucora. He ran TaxAct until Blucora sold it in 2022 and continued to lead it under its new ownership until 2023; H&R Block describes his time there as a transformation that produced double-digit revenue growth.
In 2024 he joined H&R Block as President of Global Consumer Tax and Chief Product Officer, leading the consumer tax business worldwide and product management across the company. In August 2025 the Board announced that Jones, chief executive since 2017, would retire at the end of the year and that Campbell would succeed him, a choice it described as the product of a comprehensive succession process and unanimously supported. He became President and Chief Executive Officer and joined the Board on 1 January 2026, with Jones staying on as a strategic advisor through September 2026. By the company’s fiscal 2026 results in August 2026, he was framing Block’s direction as an expert-led, technology-enabled strategy built on testing and experimentation.
Outside H&R Block, Campbell has served on the board of Jack Henry & Associates, which provides core processing and payments technology to banks and credit unions, since July 2021.
