Executive Summary

Christopher (Chris) Doyle is co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Billd, an Austin, Texas company that finances materials and pay applications for commercial construction subcontractors. The business rests on a timing gap he saw from the job site: suppliers typically give contractors 30-day terms, while subcontractors wait 60 days or more to be paid for the work. Billd covers that gap. Doyle came to the problem from inside the trade rather than from banking, having framed houses as a teenager, built homes, and worked commercial projects in Dallas before founding a construction software company and working at a solar lender. Since founding Billd in 2018 he has raised a $60 million Series A in debt and equity, a $100 million debt facility and two later equity rounds. The company says it passed $1 billion in material purchases financed in 2023.

  • Closed a $100M debt facility with LL Funds in November 2022 to fund Billd’s Material Financing and Pay App Advance products.
  • Raised $17.5M led by LL Funds and MissionOG in October 2024, then a $7.3M strategic investment led by MissionOG in November 2025 to launch early-pay programs.
  • Previously founded SiteCapture, a job-site surveying application, and worked at solar finance company Dividend Finance.

Professional Journey

Doyle started in construction at 16 as an entry-level framer at a friend’s business. He studied at Texas A&M and then spent five years as a residential home builder before moving into commercial construction in Dallas, where he worked on projects that ranged from billion-dollar stadiums to half-million-dollar jobs.

After business school at Rice University he turned to solar. There he founded his first company, SiteCapture, a job-site surveying application, and later worked at Dividend Finance, a solar finance company. Billd’s own account of its origins ties those two threads together. Working in both construction and construction-adjacent lending, Doyle saw that payment timing, more than the cost of capital, was the trade’s financing problem: subcontractors buy materials up front and carry the cost until the general contractor gets its draw from the bank.

He co-founded Billd with Jesse Weissburg in Austin in 2018. By the company’s account it launched a 120-day material financing product and signed its first 100 subcontractors in 2019, then expanded nationwide in 2020 with direct payment to suppliers. In January 2019 Billd announced a $60 million Series A in debt and equity from LL Funds, and LL Funds partner Shivraj Mundy became executive chairman. Billd later added insurance products for subcontractors in 2022. That November it closed a $100 million debt facility with LL Funds for its Material Financing and Pay App Advance lines. The company says it passed $1 billion in material purchases financed in 2023.

In October 2024, Billd raised $17.5 million in a round led by LL Funds and MissionOG, and the company reported 120% revenue growth from 2021 to 2024. A $7.3 million strategic investment followed in November 2025, led by MissionOG with HighSage Ventures and RJT Credit, to launch early-pay programs. Doyle has described the company’s role as “Champion of the Subcontractor”. He leads Billd as President and CEO and is one of five directors named in the company’s 2025 Form D filing.
