Professional Journey
Guerra came to digital commerce from physical retail. His company’s own biography notes that he started in brick-and-mortar retail at Barneys New York and Nike before pivoting to the digital customer experience space, and that background runs through how he describes the work: helping B2B and B2C brands build customer-centric digital strategies that drive conversions and revenue, and making online and in-store channels behave as one.
Blue Acorn iCi was formed in April 2019, when Blue Acorn, a digital commerce UX design and strategy agency, merged with the data-driven marketing firm iCiDIGITAL inside Beringer Capital’s Digital Experience Fund, and simultaneously acquired the direct-to-consumer commerce operator BrandShop. The combined firm had about 400 engineers, data scientists, designers and strategists across offices in Charleston, Raleigh, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, San Antonio and Shelton, Connecticut, and counted brands such as Casper, Charter Communications, Gerber, Panera Bread and Ticketmaster among its clients. By the second half of 2019 Guerra and Greg Boone were writing together in Adweek as its co-CEOs.
In October 2020 Infosys completed its acquisition of Blue Acorn iCi from Beringer Capital, paying $121 million in cash plus up to $9 million in retention bonuses, principally for its standing as an Adobe Platinum partner and its combination of experience design, commerce and analytics. Guerra credited Beringer at the time with a “360-degree approach to helping entrepreneurs maximize their business”, and the co-CEOs signed the firm’s own announcement that it had joined “the Infosys family”. Infosys folded the Blue Acorn iCi legal entity into its US holding company, Infosys Nova Holdings, at the start of 2025, while the business continues to trade under its own name as an Infosys company.
Blue Acorn iCi now names him Chief Executive Officer. When Infosys and Adobe announced a strategic collaboration in June 2025, pairing Infosys’s AI-powered marketing suite, Infosys Aster, with Adobe’s customer experience products, Blue Acorn iCi presented it as the outgrowth of its own Adobe relationship. “What started as a partnership between Blue Acorn iCi and Adobe is now growing into something much bigger,” Guerra said. “As someone who started at the ground level, I’m proud to see the foundation expand to a strategic partnership between Infosys Aster and Adobe.”
