Professional Journey

Levy spent about 18 years at Goldman Sachs and finished there as managing director and global head of the firm’s Principal Strategic Investments Group.

He then moved to IHS Markit as a partner. The TRADE reports that he ran MarkitSERV, IHS Markit’s derivatives trade processing business, for eight years. He was also global head of the company’s loan settlement and software services division. Symphony’s 2020 announcement described him as Chairman Emeritus of FINOS, the Fintech Open Source Foundation, and as a member of the CFTC’s Technology Advisory Committee and chair of its Distributed Ledger Subcommittee. Institutional Investor ranked him fourth on its 2018 Trading Tech 40 list.

In July 2020 he joined Symphony as President and Chief Commercial Officer. Symphony, founded by David Gurle in 2014, was built as a secure messaging and collaboration platform for financial services and had raised more than $510 million. In April 2021 the company announced that Gurle would retire as CEO and that Levy would take over on 1 June 2021. The following year he was named CEO of the Year at the Markets Choice Awards.

In January 2026 ThetaRay named him Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. ThetaRay builds AI-based anti-money laundering and financial crime compliance software and has offices in New York, London and Tel Aviv. Peter Reynolds, its CEO since June 2023, stepped down for family reasons and stayed on in an advisory role during the handover. Levy said on his appointment that his focus was on scaling the platform globally and deepening its partnerships with financial institutions.
