Professional Journey
Arnesen studied business, concentrating on marketing and finance, at Curry College and graduated in 1993. He told the college he “never applied myself until I was at Curry College.” He moved into healthcare early in his career as a sales and business development leader. Over more than 20 years in the medical and life science industries he built strategies and processes for organisations collecting research data, including electronic patient-reported outcomes, lab data, IVR and clinical data. The public record read here does not name the employers from that period.
In 2012 he and Raj Indupuri founded eClinical Solutions. The company’s milestones show it starting with Medidata Rave services and clinical data management and adding elluminate as a clinical data repository. Over the following decade it widened elluminate into analytics, risk-based quality management, a statistical computing environment and, in 2025, AI agents. Its pitch is to take clinical trial data from any source, standardise it, and give sponsors analytics in close to real time. “If your drug is not working in a clinical trial, you need to know immediately,” he told Curry College in 2020. By then the company had grown from 15 to more than 200 employees and had added COVID-19 analytics for sponsors whose trials were disrupted by the pandemic. Curry also reported that he had recently been named a finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year award in New England.
The company’s ownership has changed twice. In January 2020 Summit Partners made a minority growth investment; Arnesen said Summit “immediately understood our market and our vision.” In September 2024 GI Partners took a majority stake. Summit kept a minority position and the founders kept significant equity. Indupuri and the existing management team stayed in charge, and Arnesen called it “this next chapter of growth.” The company now says it works with 16 of the top 50 biopharmaceutical companies. It still lists him as President and Co-Founder.
