Executive Summary

Andres Garcia-Amaya is the founder and chief executive of Zoe Financial, a New York wealth platform that is itself an SEC-registered investment adviser. Zoe started as a marketplace matching investors with vetted independent, fiduciary financial advisors, then built the software those advisors use to open, fund, rebalance and report on client accounts, so it now serves both sides of the relationship. Garcia-Amaya spent roughly fifteen years on Wall Street before founding it, most recently as an executive director at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. He incorporated Zoe in 2016, launched it publicly in 2018 and has raised about $45 million, including a SoftBank-led Series A in 2021 and a Sageview Capital-led Series B in 2025. The firm’s Form ADV lists him as CEO since June 2016 and as a 25–50% owner.

  • Took Zoe’s advisor-matching marketplace public in February 2018, and later extended it into a full wealth platform for registered investment advisers.
  • Raised a $10M Series A led by SoftBank’s SB Opportunity Fund (2021) and a $29.6M Series B led by Sageview Capital (2025).
  • Previously executive director at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, building country-risk and long-term forecasting tools as an emerging-markets macro research analyst, and earlier a J.P. Morgan global market strategist on the founding team of the “Guide to the Markets”.
  • Wharton MBA, class of 2011.

Professional Journey

Garcia-Amaya built his career at J.P. Morgan. As a global market strategist he gave market views to financial advisors across the country, and Zoe’s launch announcement describes him as part of the founding team of J.P. Morgan’s “Guide to the Markets”, the firm’s widely used chart book for advisors. He later became an executive director at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. There, working as an emerging-markets “quantamental” macro research analyst, he built tools to measure country economic risk and produce long-term economic forecasts that fed into the team’s investment process. His FINRA exam record (Series 7, 63, 55 and 3, all passed in 2006) dates his entry to the securities industry. He completed a Wharton MBA in 2011.

The idea for Zoe came from what he saw in the advisory business. Advisors were leaving the large firms to set up their own practices, yet clients still had no reliable way to tell which of them were qualified and aligned with their interests. He framed it bluntly in 2021: “Over my 15-year Wall Street career, I’ve found that much of the industry relies on incentives that aren’t aligned with the consumer.” He incorporated Zoe Financial in Delaware in 2016 and launched it publicly in February 2018. At launch it was an algorithm-driven marketplace that matched millennial and Gen X high earners with a curated network of independent, fee-only fiduciary advisors, whom Zoe called a “household CFO”.

Growth brought outside capital and regulatory structure. Zoe registered with the SEC as an investment adviser in December 2019. In 2021 SoftBank’s SB Opportunity Fund led a $10 million Series A, taking total funding to about $16.3 million. Existing backers included Marie Chandoha, the former president and CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Management, who also sat on Zoe’s advisory committee. At that point Zoe reported more than 2,600 advisors on its network, managing over $410 billion between them.

The company then widened from matching into infrastructure. It added its own wealth platform, covering digital onboarding, account funding, automated rebalancing, direct indexing, model marketplaces and private labeling for registered investment advisers. It now describes itself as a modern turnkey asset management platform (TAMP) as well as an advisor-matching service. In April 2025 it closed a $29.6 million Series B led by Sageview Capital, with several RIA firms and their executives participating, bringing total funding to $45 million. Sageview’s Sasank Chary joined the board. Zoe was named to FinTech Global’s WealthTech100 for 2026. The firm’s September 2026 Form ADV still lists Garcia-Amaya as CEO and as one of its largest individual owners.
