Professional Journey
Zilberstein studied at Bar-Ilan University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences and mathematics and a master’s in computer sciences. He then managed a team of high-level researchers and developers in an elite IDF cyber unit.
In industry he became a founder several times over. He co-founded Waterfall Security Solutions, whose security gateways were among the first built specifically for critical infrastructure, and Gita Technologies, a cyber and intelligence research and development firm. Over this period he invented and authored more than ten patents, mostly in cybersecurity.
His best-known venture is Claroty, which he co-founded with Galina Antova and Benny Porat inside Team8. As co-founder and CEO he took the company out of stealth in September 2016 with $32 million from investors, on the argument that industrial control systems had been designed for safety and resilience rather than security, and were becoming exposed as they connected to IT networks. By March 2017 Claroty had set up a global headquarters in New York. Claroty is now led by chief executive Yaniv Vardi, with Zilberstein remaining on its board as director and co-founder.
At Team8 he is now a Managing Partner, working on the other side of the table: building and investing in new cyber and software infrastructure companies, the model that produced Claroty.
