Executive Summary

Tom Wilde is president and chief executive of Indico Data, the Boston company whose platform ingests and orchestrates the unstructured paperwork that insurance runs on — underwriting submissions, claims and first notice of loss, mid-term policy adjustments, broker reconciliation — and turns it into data that downstream systems and, increasingly, agentic decisioning can act on. He took the job in January 2018, and the most consequential thing he has done since is narrow the company’s aim: Indico began as a general-purpose deep learning platform for enterprise content and is now a specialist in insurance operations, with carrier customers including Allstate, Aspen, Convex, Everest, Markel, HDI and Aviva. Wilde came to it after twenty-five years spent commercialising hard technology in digital content, search and online advertising, including founding and running the enterprise video company RAMP and senior roles at FAST Search & Transfer, Terra Lycos, MIVA and NameMedia.

Professional Journey

Wilde’s career has been built at the point where a difficult technology has to become a sellable product. He held senior leadership positions at FAST Search & Transfer, the enterprise search company later acquired by Microsoft, and at Terra Lycos as a senior operating executive across global search and publishing, then at MIVA as senior vice president and general manager for North America and at NameMedia running its consumer division. Through that period he also sat on the IAB’s Search Engine Committee, working on the standards side of the online advertising business he was operating in.

In 2007 he founded RAMP, also known as RAMP Holdings, an enterprise video content management company, and ran it as chief executive for eight years. Cxense, the Norwegian data management provider, acquired RAMP in 2015, and Wilde stayed on as chief product officer and general manager of Cxense Americas until around 2017 — the same pattern of building something and then integrating it into a larger platform business that he would later manage from the other side.

Indico named him president and chief executive in January 2018. The company had strong deep learning technology aimed at automating document-intensive business processes, and Wilde’s contribution has been commercial focus. Rather than selling horizontal intelligent document processing into every regulated industry with a paperwork problem, Indico concentrated on insurance, where the document formats are chaotic, the volumes are large, the decisions are high-value and the operational cost of manual intake is enormous. The platform now handles underwriting submission processing, claims and FNOL intake, mid-term adjustments and broker reconciliation, enriching data automatically and recommending next actions rather than simply extracting fields.

That focus has been validated commercially and by the market’s own participants. Indico has been placed as a Leader in the Everest Group PEAK Matrix for Intelligent Document Processing in Insurance in consecutive years, and its customer list runs to major property and casualty carriers in both the US and the London Market. On 28 October 2025 Aviva Ventures, the corporate venture fund of Aviva plc, completed a strategic investment in the company, with Aviva’s chief innovation officer Arslan Hannani joining Indico’s board as an observer and adviser — an insurer backing the software it uses. Indico has raised roughly $72.7 million in total across its funding history, including a $22 million Series B.

Alongside running the company, Wilde hosts Unstructured Unlocked, Indico’s podcast on applying AI to unstructured enterprise data, and writes on AI in enterprise operations.
