Professional Journey
apexanalytix was founded in 1988 and built its business on recovery audit: finding and recovering overpayments that large companies have made to their suppliers. Yurko led the company for more than twenty years. Over that time it added software to stop overpayments before they happen. Its products include firststrike for overpayment and fraud prevention, apexportal for supplier information management and smartvm for vendor master data. It later moved into supplier risk monitoring and cyber risk.
Ownership changed during his tenure. Carousel Capital, a Southeastern US private investment firm, first invested in 2014 and sponsored a recapitalization in 2020. In June 2022 KKR agreed to acquire a majority interest through its North America Fund XIII, with Carousel remaining a significant minority owner. At the time the company said it served over 250 Fortune 500 and Forbes Global 2000 companies and had achieved consistent double-digit organic growth over the previous five years. Yurko welcomed KKR as the company’s largest shareholder and credited Carousel with a key role in its growth. The company also said it would continue and expand its broad-based employee ownership programme alongside the new investors.
In September 2025 Yurko announced an expansion of the executive bench. Akhilesh Agarwal was promoted to President of P2P Solutions & Technology, Phil Beane to President of Global Transaction Compliance Solutions, Derek Binnicker to Global Chief Revenue Officer and Chris Haydon to Chief Growth Officer, and Chris Miorin joined as Chief Financial Officer. Yurko called them “leaders of the future for apex”.
On 25 June 2026 apexanalytix announced that Peter Torrellas, most recently President of Cubic Transportation Systems and previously a long-time Siemens executive, had become chief executive effective 22 June, succeeding Yurko on his retirement. Yurko said leading the company had been “a true blessing”. He remains on the board of directors, where the company said he would work with Torrellas through the transition.
