Andrew McCauley became Chief Executive Officer of Industrial Physics in February 2026, succeeding Barry Lyon. Industrial Physics is a KKR-backed maker of test, measurement and inspection equipment, which trade press describes as focused on quality assurance in the aluminium packaging value chain. He arrived after a run of senior roles at Danaher, Fortive and Ralliant, moving from large listed industrial groups to a private-equity-owned business. His most recent role was Group President at Ralliant. Before that he was Fortive’s Group President of Sensing Technologies and President of its Qualitrol business.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Executive Officer of Industrial Physics since February 2026, succeeding Barry Lyon.
  • Group President at Ralliant (NYSE: RAL) immediately before joining Industrial Physics.
  • Promoted to Group President, Sensing Technologies at Fortive effective 1 July 2023, as Fortive announced in its first-quarter 2023 results.
  • President of Qualitrol, a Fortive operating company.

Professional Journey

McCauley trained as an engineer, earning a BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and later took an MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. The roles on record are all at Danaher, Fortive and Ralliant. At Danaher he held commercial and general management roles: Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, and General Manager for China and Brazil. His own site says he has led industrial and sensing technology businesses in more than 20 countries.

At Fortive he ran Qualitrol as President. In April 2023 Fortive announced his promotion to Group President, Sensing Technologies, effective 1 July 2023. That put him over a portfolio of operating companies rather than a single business. He then became a Group President at Ralliant, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In February 2026 Industrial Physics named him chief executive in succession to Barry Lyon. The company is owned by private equity firm KKR and makes test, measurement and inspection equipment. On joining, McCauley said the company had “exceptional colleagues, a strong portfolio of leading products and brands, and a tremendous opportunity ahead.”
