Executive Summary
Spiros Xanthos is the Founder and CEO of Resolve AI, which builds AI agents that diagnose and act on problems in running software: incidents, rollbacks, capacity and configuration changes. He started the company in October 2024 with Mayank Agarwal, his collaborator since 2012. Resolve AI is his third company in the same broad area of software telemetry and troubleshooting. He sold Pattern Insight to VMware in 2012 and Omnition to Splunk in 2019, and went on to run Splunk’s observability business as general manager. Investors have backed that record heavily. Resolve AI raised a $125 million Series A at a $1 billion valuation in February 2026, then added an extension at $1.5 billion two months later.

Professional Journey
Xanthos and Agarwal met in graduate school at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the companies he has founded since have all dealt with one problem: working out what is happening inside complex software systems and why they fail.
The first was Pattern Insight, a search and data-mining company that VMware acquired in 2012 and used in its analytics platform. Xanthos stayed at VMware until February 2015. He then founded ezhome, and in 2018 started Omnition to build an observability platform around distributed tracing. At the time of the acquisition he argued that older monitoring tools, “some of us helped build”, could not cope with microservice-based, cloud-native applications. Omnition was the first investment of Unusual Ventures, in May 2018. Splunk acquired it in September 2019, before the product had formally launched, only weeks after agreeing to buy SignalFx for $1.05 billion. Terms were not disclosed.
At Splunk he went on to lead the observability business as general manager, with Agarwal as chief architect of that division. Resolve AI also credits the pair with co-creating OpenTelemetry, which has become the common open-source standard for collecting telemetry data.
Resolve AI, founded in October 2024, extends that work from observing production systems to operating them. Its product is described as an agentic interface to production, drawing context from code, observability data, deployments, cloud infrastructure and operational history. It is used for incident diagnosis, rollback decisions and guided code changes, and the company names Coinbase, DoorDash, MongoDB, MSCI, Salesforce and Zscaler among its customers. The February 2026 Series A was led by Lightspeed, with Greylock (which led the seed), Unusual Ventures, Artisanal Ventures and A* taking part. The April 2026 extension, from DST Global and Salesforce Ventures, came with the launch of Resolve AI Labs, a research group led by Chief AI Scientist Dhruv Mahajan that builds domain-specific models for production operations. By the company’s own count it had more than 125 employees at the time of the Series A.
