Executive Summary

Siva Samy is the founder of ValGenesis and leads it as CEO & Chief Product Strategist. The Santa Clara company, established in 2005, makes software that replaces the paper-based validation processes life sciences manufacturers use to show regulators that their equipment, computer systems and processes work as intended; it now sells that under the ValGenesis Smart GxP name, which it describes as a cloud-based, AI-enabled platform, and says it is trusted by 30 of the world’s top 50 life sciences companies. Samy came to the problem from the inside, having worked in validation and information technology at biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies before starting the business, and the dual title reflects that he has kept direct ownership of the product as well as the company.

Professional Journey

Before founding ValGenesis, Samy held technical and management positions at biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, working in validation and information technology. Validation is the regulated discipline of documenting that a manufacturing system or piece of software does what it is supposed to, and in life sciences it has traditionally been carried out on paper, in binders of signed protocols. ValGenesis was built on the proposition that the whole lifecycle could be run digitally.

That idea became the company’s intellectual property. In August 2017 ValGenesis announced that the US Patent and Trademark Office had granted it its first patent, US Patent 9,720,687, covering its approach to paperless validation lifecycle management. Samy said at the time that the patent protected the company’s “proprietary and innovative approach for managing the validation lifecycle process as paperless”, and his biography credits him with the patent.

The company’s first significant outside capital came in May 2021, when Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital invested $24 million; a Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital managing director, Melissa Daniels, now sits on the ValGenesis board alongside him. The years since have brought a larger executive team, the 2022 acquisition of 4Tune Engineering, and a steady move from the original validation lifecycle management system towards a broader platform. In July 2025 ValGenesis announced up to $16 million of financing from the Innovation Banking Group at Bridge Bank, with Samy saying it reflected “strong confidence in our vision, innovation, and execution”.

He remains in both roles. In July 2026 the company announced Wayne Baker as its Chief Revenue Officer, quoting Samy as founder and CEO, and his company biography lists him among ValGenesis attendees at the ISPE Annual Meeting in October 2026.

Education

ValGenesis states that he received a master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, a Ph.D. in Medical Devices, and a post-doctoral appointment, from the University of Madras and the University of Toronto. The company does not say which institution awarded which qualification.
