Professional Journey
Hart studied at Southern Methodist University and built his career as what NMI calls “a financial operator in tech-enabled growth companies”. That meant senior finance roles at a series of startups and private equity-backed businesses across IT services, cloud hosting and telecommunications, followed by a post as Head of Finance at Kaseya and then as Chief Financial Officer of Venn LocalZone. NMI puts his experience at more than two decades. He also earned the CFA charter.
NMI hired him as Chief Financial Officer in June 2022. The announcement, datelined Schaumburg, Illinois, paired him with Phillip Goericke, who came from Alkami Technology as SVP Engineering. Then-CEO Vijay Sondhi said the two brought “a wealth of industry knowledge” as the company expanded. Hart said his passion was “building and scaling businesses”, and that with the right people and product improvements NMI could “solve some of the most pressing issues in the payments industry by providing a technology solution that scales alongside our partners.”
NMI describes itself as a global embedded payments infrastructure company. Steve Pinado has since succeeded Sondhi as chief executive, and Hart remains CFO in the current leadership team alongside him and Chief Operating Officer Dave Glaser. In May 2026 NMI announced it had acquired Dwolla, an API-first provider of ACH and real-time account-to-account payments, bringing payment acceptance and money movement, including ACH, real-time payments and FedNow, onto one platform. NMI said the combined business handles about $700 billion in annual transaction volume. Financial terms were not disclosed.
