Professional Journey

Beck made his name in consumer businesses. From 1986 to 1993 he was vice chairman and chief operating officer of Blockbuster Entertainment. From 1992 to 1997 he was chairman and chief executive officer of Boston Market, and from 1994 to 1997 he was founder and chairman of Einstein Bros Bagels. In 1997 he founded Tango, and he remains its chief executive officer. His link to Pacific Dental Services, now PDS Health, dates from 2005. Gloo’s proxy describes him as a partner and vice chairman since that year. PDS Health’s own page says he began as a strategic consultant to its founder and chief executive in 2005 and became Vice Chairman in 2012.

He and Theresa Beck co-founded Gloo, and he has led it as President and Chief Executive Officer from the start. The business was formed as Gloo Holdings, LLC in November 2013. Its stated mission is to build the leading technology platform and AI infrastructure for what it calls the “faith and flourishing ecosystem”: churches and frontline organizations, and the providers that supply them with tools and resources. Gloo has grown partly through acquisitions of companies that serve that market. Former Intel and VMware chief executive Pat Gelsinger, a director since 2016, became Executive Chair and Head of Technology in March 2025.

Gloo reorganized into a Delaware corporation, Gloo Holdings, Inc., in 2025, and its IPO of Class A common stock closed on 20 November 2025. A Schedule 13D filed in July 2026 reports that he beneficially owns a large stake in the company, held mostly through family trusts and a foundation. In January 2026, he and Gelsinger each volunteered to reduce their annual salary to $1 from the start of fiscal 2026. He signed the company’s 10-Q for the quarter ended 31 July 2026 as Chief Executive Officer.

Gloo’s leadership page notes that the Becks support community causes through foundation giving and local activism, among them EFAA, The Nature Conservancy and BeeChicas.
