Professional Journey
Ramirez Mena is originally from Mexico City. He studied economics at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico and later earned an MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The Dallas Morning News reports that he worked at FedEx earlier in his career.
He joined Pizza Hut, part of Yum! Brands, in 2010 and held finance and strategic development roles of increasing responsibility. In January 2014 he became Chief Financial Officer of Pizza Hut Global, a system that the Jack in the Box board biography describes as 18,000 stores with more than $12 billion in sales. Buff City Soap has also described him as Pizza Hut’s Chief Growth Officer. In April 2020 he moved into general management as Managing Director and General Manager of Pizza Hut Latin America and Iberia, which the same biography puts at about 2,600 stores. He held that role until March 2022. In August 2020, while still at Pizza Hut, he joined the board of Six Flags Entertainment as an independent director.
He joined Buff City Soap in 2022. The company had been founded in 2013, began franchising in 2018 and moved its headquarters to North Texas at the end of 2020, and General Atlantic had invested in 2021 and again in 2022. In March 2023, when Lively became CEO, Ramirez Mena was named President in addition to his role as CFO. The chain grew from about 50 stores in late 2020 to more than 250 around 2023, then contracted. He succeeded Lively as CEO on 1 June 2025, and Lively stayed on as executive chairman. In an August 2026 interview with The Dallas Morning News he put the count at about 200 stores, with e-commerce expected to reach close to 20% of sales, up from 3% or 4% in early 2022. He described the business as having grown from soap into a personal and home care brand led by laundry products. Recent launches include room sprays and a plant-based deodorant.
His outside board work moved from Six Flags to Jack in the Box. He joined the Jack in the Box board in January 2024. At its 2026 annual meeting shareholders re-elected him with more than 13.3 million votes for and about 500,000 against, although Biglari Capital had threatened a withhold campaign against some directors. The company’s proxy named him to an advisory capital allocation committee created under a cooperation agreement with the investor GreenWood. Six Flags later merged with Cedar Fair, and in March 2025 the combined company announced that he and three other legacy directors would step down in connection with its 2025 annual meeting.
