Executive Summary
Sankesh Abbhi is a life-sciences technology entrepreneur and investor who founded and leads Sitero, a technology-enabled contract research organization that combines clinical services, drug safety and pharmacovigilance, and biosafety work with its own Mentor eClinical software suite. The thesis behind Sitero is that trial sponsors, particularly small and mid-sized biotechs, should not have to assemble a CRO, a safety vendor and an eClinical platform separately; Sitero sells the combination, and Abbhi has bought the missing pieces rather than building all of them, acquiring Clario’s eClinical technology suite in 2023 and the AI assets of studyOS in late 2025. It is his third turn at the same problem: he founded and sold a life-sciences outsourcing firm, then ran and sold a safety and regulatory software vendor, before building a company that sits across both.
Career Highlights
- Founder and CEO of Sitero, responsible for strategy, direction and overall management, operating from Coral Gables, Florida, with offices across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Poland, Australia, Mexico and India.
- Founded Synowledge in 2006, a knowledge-process outsourcing firm serving life-sciences clients, and grew it to roughly 1,000 employees before BioClinica acquired it in September 2015.
- Served as Senior Vice President and head of Global Safety and Regulatory Solutions at BioClinica for more than a year following that acquisition.
- Appointed President and CEO of ArisGlobal in December 2017, having joined as Managing Director earlier that year; he succeeded founder Deepak Abbhi, who moved to chairman after nearly three decades leading the company.
- Led ArisGlobal through its 2019 sale to Nordic Capital and continues to serve on its board of directors.
- Expanded Sitero by acquisition, buying Clario’s eClinical technology suite in 2023 and the AI assets and business of studyOS, including its Ash clinical-trial agent, in November 2025, relaunched as SiteroAI.
- Founder and managing partner of Abbhi Capital, a privately held Miami investment firm investing across healthcare, life sciences, technology and real estate.
Professional Journey
Abbhi’s career has run along a single seam of the pharmaceutical industry: the regulated, document-heavy work of drug safety, pharmacovigilance and regulatory submission, and the question of whether it is better delivered as a service, as software, or as both. He started on the services side, founding Synowledge in 2006 as a knowledge-process outsourcing business for life-sciences clients. It scaled quickly, reaching roughly 1,000 employees, and BioClinica acquired it in September 2015. Rather than leaving at the close, he stayed on as Senior Vice President running BioClinica’s Global Safety and Regulatory Solutions group for over a year, which put him on the customer-facing side of an acquirer’s portfolio.
In early 2017 he joined ArisGlobal as Managing Director, and in December of that year the company named him President and CEO. The appointment was a generational handover: ArisGlobal’s founder Deepak Abbhi, who had led the company as president and CEO for nearly thirty years, became chairman of the board. ArisGlobal’s stated reason for the choice was that Abbhi brought experience across safety, regulatory affairs, clinical development and medical affairs together with a customer-side perspective, at a moment when the company was pushing its LifeSphere platform toward automation and cognitive computing. He led the business through its 2019 sale to Nordic Capital and remains on its board.
He also built an investment vehicle alongside the operating roles. Abbhi Capital, where he is founder and managing partner, is a privately held Miami firm concentrating on healthcare, life sciences, technology and real estate, and describes its approach as strengthening portfolio company management and contributing operational expertise rather than passive investing.
Sitero is the current venture and the most integrated version of the idea. It positions itself as a technology-enabled CRO rather than a pure services firm, running its Mentor eClinical suite alongside clinical delivery, drug safety and biosafety services, with a stated emphasis on small and mid-sized sponsors. Abbhi has grown it through acquisition: Sitero took over Clario’s eClinical technology suite in 2023, rebranding it into Mentor and inheriting that customer base, and in November 2025 acquired the AI assets and business of studyOS, including its Ash clinical-trial agent, which the company launched as SiteroAI. Announcing the studyOS deal, he framed the bet plainly, saying the company believes in the potential for purpose-built AI to be a transformative tool for the industry.
