Executive Summary
Rohan Narayana Murty is the founder of Soroco, the Boston-headquartered enterprise software company he started in 2014. Soroco studies how employees move between applications and tasks, and uses that interaction data to build what it calls a “work graph”, aimed at large enterprises and the global systems integrators that serve them. He came to business from academic computer science: a Harvard PhD, a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT, and a junior fellowship at Harvard’s Society of Fellows. Soroco is now run day to day by its chief executive, Munjal Jhala, and Murty continues as founder and presents the company’s product direction. Outside Soroco he founded the Murty Classical Library of India, a long-horizon non-profit that translates Indian classics.

Professional Journey
Murty took a BS at Cornell and then a PhD in computer science at Harvard. His research there was in distributed systems, and his thesis on whitespaces networking won awards and fellowships and led to published papers and patents. He was then a postdoctoral fellow at MIT and a Junior Fellow of Harvard’s Society of Fellows. Soroco notes that he was only the second computer scientist the society had selected, after the artificial intelligence pioneer Marvin Minsky.
In 2014 he founded Soroco with co-founders George Nychis and Arjun R Narayanaswamy. The company set out to understand how office work is actually done. It captures how people interact with the many applications they use in a day, and turns that into a model of the work itself. Soroco has since built its product around that “work graph” and, more recently, around the idea that human teams and AI agents will work within the same operating model. Industry analysts have placed it in their process-intelligence assessments, including an Everest Group PEAK Matrix “Leader” rating for digital interaction intelligence in 2025.
Operational leadership now sits with Chief Executive Officer Munjal Jhala, formerly of Automation Anywhere, and Chief Operating Officer Abhijit Shroff. Murty keeps the founder title. At the company’s tenth Soroco Illuminate event in Bangalore in August 2026 he gave the product unveil and set out the strategic shift towards combined human and agent work, while Jhala gave the opening keynote.
Alongside Soroco, Murty founded the Murty Classical Library of India. This non-profit is on what his biography describes as a 100-plus-year mission to bring Indian classics of the past two millennia to readers worldwide, and it is billed as one of the largest and most complex translation efforts in the world.
