Executive Summary

Mike Berry is Chief Financial Officer of MongoDB, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDB), the developer data platform company behind the MongoDB document database and its Atlas cloud service. He took the role on 27 May 2025 and runs accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury and investor relations. He is among the most experienced finance chiefs in enterprise software: MongoDB described him on hiring as a seven-time chief financial officer, and the list behind that phrase is a tour of the last two decades of infrastructure and security software, taking in NetApp, McAfee, FireEye, Informatica, IO Data Centers, SolarWinds and i2 Technologies. That depth has also made him a sought-after audit-committee director; he spent more than thirteen years on the board of Rapid7, chairing its audit committee, and now sits on the boards of Calix and HubSpot. He works from a home office in Texas.

Career Highlights

  • Signed MongoDB’s Sarbanes-Oxley section 302 certification as Chief Financial Officer and Principal Financial Officer on 1 September 2026, filed with the company’s quarterly report for the period ended 31 July 2026.
  • Appointed MongoDB’s Chief Financial Officer effective 27 May 2025, under an offer letter dated 14 April 2025 that MongoDB filed publicly as an exhibit to its quarterly report.
  • Described by MongoDB on appointment as a seven-time CFO with more than thirty years in technology and software, and with experience scaling businesses to $5 billion in revenue and beyond.
  • Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NetApp, Inc. from March 2020 to May 2025.
  • Previously Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of McAfee LLC; Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of FireEye; and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Informatica.

  • Appointed to HubSpot, Inc.’s board of directors, announced 1 April 2026.
  • Director of Calix, Inc. since 2025, serving on the audit committee as an audit committee financial expert and on the strategic committee.

Professional Journey

Berry’s career has been built almost entirely in the finance chair, and almost entirely in companies selling software or infrastructure to enterprises. He was Chief Financial Officer of i2 Technologies, Inc., the supply-chain management software company, and appears in its proxy statements through the second half of the 2000s. He then served as Chief Financial Officer of SolarWinds, Inc. during its earlier public-company period, appearing in its proxy statements from 2010 to 2014, and of IO Data Centers, a modular data-centre business. The through-line is capital-intensive or high-growth infrastructure businesses where the finance function has to fund expansion while defending margin.

From 2014 onwards he moved into a sequence of larger and more troubled turnarounds. At Informatica he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer through the data-integration company’s transition. At FireEye, the breach-detection and incident-response company, he held a combined Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer remit, an unusually broad mandate that put operations as well as finance under him at a company that was restructuring its go-to-market model. He then served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of McAfee LLC during the period when the security business had been carved out of Intel and was being rebuilt as a standalone company under private equity ownership.

In March 2020 he became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NetApp, Inc., the data storage and cloud data services company, where he stayed five years. The tenure spanned NetApp’s shift from selling storage hardware towards public-cloud data services, a transition that changes both revenue recognition and the shape of the balance sheet, and it coincided with the pandemic-era swings in enterprise IT spending.

MongoDB announced his appointment on 28 April 2025, effective 27 May. The company’s core financial question is the same one facing every modern data platform: MongoDB Atlas is consumption-priced, so revenue follows customer workloads rather than seat counts, and the growth of AI applications is simultaneously an opportunity and a source of cost volatility. His offer letter, filed publicly, set base salary at $350,000 with a 65 per cent bonus target and $12 million in restricted stock units split between a new-hire grant and a sign-on grant, and located him at a home office in Texas.

His second career as a director has run in parallel. He joined the board of Rapid7, Inc., the vulnerability management and security operations company, in the early 2010s and served more than thirteen years, ultimately as chair of its audit committee; he told that board on 5 February 2026 that he would not stand for re-election at the 2026 annual meeting, and left at that meeting. He joined the board of Calix, Inc., the broadband platform company, in 2025, where he sits on the audit committee as its designated audit committee financial expert and on the strategic committee. In April 2026 HubSpot, Inc. announced his appointment to its board, with chief executive Yamini Rangan citing his financial expertise and governance record.
