Professional Journey

Osofsky began his career at McKinsey. He then moved into software, spending most of the 2000s running marketing, product management and business development at venture-backed companies. He was at Frictionless Commerce, a sourcing software company later acquired by SAP, from January 2000 to June 2004, and at OATSystems, an RFID software company later acquired by Checkpoint Systems, from June 2004 to January 2007. From February 2007 to December 2010 he was Vice President of Marketing & Product Management at Optaros, an e-commerce solutions company.

In January 2011 he joined Lionbridge Technologies, the Waltham, Massachusetts translation and localization company then listed on Nasdaq, as Senior Vice President of Marketing. In 2014 he was named Senior Vice President of Global Offerings, and the company’s proxy statements list him among its named executive officers in those years. Jama’s announcement of his appointment says he later served as COO of Lionbridge and then as CEO of Aberdeen. It also credits him with scaling organizations to more than $140 million in revenue.

Jama Software appointed him Chief Executive Officer in January 2020. Insight Partners, an investor in the company, said at the time that he brought “the right mix of talent, experience and success” for its next stage of growth. Jama sells to regulated and engineering-heavy industries, where tracing each requirement through design, testing and verification is both a compliance obligation and a development discipline.

On 18 March 2024 Francisco Partners announced a definitive agreement to acquire Jama Software for $1.2 billion from shareholders including Insight Partners and Madrona Ventures. The announcement said the company had tripled its recurring revenue over five years and that Osofsky would personally reinvest and continue to lead the company. In a December 2024 conversation published by Madrona, Osofsky talked about profitable growth and the “rule of 40”, and about why he and much of the team had stayed after the transaction. Jama’s leadership page still lists him as Chief Executive Officer.
