Professional Journey

Ganeshan’s early career, as her company summarises it, ran through a series of large technology and data businesses, several of them in the Atlanta area: IBM, Digital Design Medical Systems, the credit bureau Equifax, the data company ChoicePoint and the broadband equipment maker Scientific Atlanta. The company does not give titles or dates for those roles.

In 1992 she and Ram Ganeshan, now the company’s Executive Vice President, formed Datum Software. By the company’s account demand for its services grew until, in 2006, it became a fully staffed, woman-owned IT firm. It then broadened from commercial technology work into government contracting and payment solutions. Those lines became three brands: Datum Government, which provides IT solutions to US federal agencies and whose defence work is managed by a retired US Air Force acquisitions officer; Datum Innovations, the commercial engagement arm; and VELA Works, a platform offering payment processing, billing and customer engagement services.

In March 2023 the company announced that Datum Software was rebranding as Datum Technologies Group, bringing what it called three once-siloed brands under one umbrella. Ganeshan said the company was committed to serving clients while fostering a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. The group is headquartered in Johns Creek, Georgia, with further offices in Montgomery, Alabama, and in Chennai and Lucknow, India.

She and members of the Datum team took part in and sponsored the 2022 VIBHA Dream Mile, which raises money for the education of underprivileged children.
