Executive Summary

JL Valente — Jean-Luc Valente — is Chief Executive Officer of DTiQ, the video intelligence platform that sits in the ceilings of more than 32,000 quick-service restaurants, convenience stores and retail sites, watching transactions for loss and operations for compliance. He was appointed in December 2024 by the company’s investor Digital Alpha as part of a wholesale leadership rebuild, arriving from a decade at Cisco where he ran product management for enterprise routing, SD-WAN and cloud networking. The fit is less odd than it looks: DTiQ’s problem is a distributed-edge problem, thousands of small sites pushing video and transaction data into a cloud platform, which is close to what SD-WAN was invented to solve. His 2026 agenda — product depth, disciplined execution, channel-led global reach — reads as an attempt to turn a long-established loss-prevention business into an AI product company.

Career Highlights

  • Appointed Chief Executive Officer of DTiQ in an announcement dated 12 December 2024, alongside a new Chief Revenue Officer and VP of Marketing, in a rebuild backed by investor Digital Alpha.
  • Leads a platform serving more than 32,000 locations worldwide across quick-service restaurants, retail and convenience stores.
  • Announced a further slate of senior appointments on 20 January 2026, setting 2026 priorities around AI-driven product innovation, a channel-led go-to-market model and quick-service restaurant expansion.
  • Joined Cisco in 2013 and spent a decade there, latterly as Vice President of Product Management for enterprise routing, SD-WAN and cloud networking, globally responsible for product strategy, definition and delivery.
  • At Cisco, led the service provider network automation strategy including the Tail-f acquisition, organised the company’s initial 5G initiative including OpenvRAN, and brought Cisco’s telco cloud and ngena, the first SD-WAN-as-a-service platform, to market.
  • As President and Chief Executive Officer of blueKiwi, led the enterprise social software company to acquisition by Atos, where its technology became the backbone of the Atos Zero eMail initiative.
  • Earlier executive roles at InfoVista, Viasoft and Computer Associates.

Professional Journey

Valente trained as an engineer, taking a master’s degree in electrical engineering at EFREI in Paris, and built his early career in enterprise software at Computer Associates, Viasoft and InfoVista — the last a French network performance management company, which put him close to the carrier and service provider market he would later work in at Cisco.

He then became President and Chief Executive Officer of blueKiwi, a venture-backed enterprise social software company. blueKiwi was acquired by Atos, and its technology became the technical basis of Atos’s Zero eMail programme, the IT services group’s much-publicised attempt to replace internal email with social collaboration. Selling a startup into a large systems integrator and seeing its product become a strategic initiative there is a particular kind of outcome, and it is the one that took him to Cisco.

He joined Cisco in 2013, described at the time as a software executive with some twenty-five years of experience building international software businesses. His decade there spanned two distinct remits. On the service provider side he was Vice President of Strategy and General Manager of the Service Provider Business, where he led the network automation strategy — including the acquisition of Tail-f, the network configuration automation company — organised Cisco’s first 5G initiative including OpenvRAN, and brought the company’s telco cloud offering and ngena, an early SD-WAN-as-a-service platform, to market. He later took Vice President of Product Management for Enterprise Routing, SD-WAN and Cloud Networking, with global responsibility for that portfolio’s strategy, definition and delivery, through the period in which enterprise networking moved decisively from hardware to software-defined and cloud-managed models.

In December 2024, DTiQ’s investor Digital Alpha appointed him Chief Executive Officer as the centrepiece of a new leadership team. DTiQ is not a young company — it has more than twenty-five years of operating history in loss prevention and video auditing — and the mandate is a transformation rather than a launch. Valente describes a culture of “declare and deliver”, and in January 2026 announced a further set of senior hires spanning product and technology, APAC and EMEA channel leadership, framing the year around deeper AI-driven product capability, disciplined execution and a channel-led route to global markets.
