Professional Journey

Vesnic took a Bachelor of Business Administration in computer information systems at Georgia State University, graduating in 2000, and began work as a software engineer at SBT Business Technologies the same year. Within months he had moved to TransCore, the transportation technology company best known for electronic tolling and traffic management systems, where he would spend the bulk of his career. He added a Master of Science in information systems at Kennesaw State University in the early 2000s while working, and progressed to manager of software development, a role he held for around eleven years.

In 2011 he left for Allscripts as Principal Architect, moving from transportation into healthcare IT at a moment when electronic health record adoption in the United States was being driven hard by federal incentive programmes. The move lasted about six months. He returned to TransCore in early 2012, this time as Director of Software Development — a promotion on the grade he had left, and a signal that the departure was a genuine attempt at a domain change rather than a step on a ladder.

He founded Softray Solutions in January 2015. The model he chose reflects the engineering-management background rather than a sales one: rather than a body-shop staffing firm, Softray positions as an enterprise software engineering partner, taking ownership of delivery across custom development, mobile, web and cloud applications, design, DevOps and quality assurance.
