Executive Summary

Jakub Lamik is Chief Executive Officer of Redgate Software, the Cambridge, UK company whose tools bring DevOps practice to database development and which says its products are used by some 200,000 data professionals, including most of the Fortune 100. He came to the job from product rather than sales: a software engineer and entrepreneur by background, he held executive roles at ARM, ending as Vice President of Product, before joining Redgate in 2019. Two years later he became the first CEO from outside the founding pair, and in 2026 he led the company through its first outside majority investment, from Bregal Sagemount.

Career Highlights

  • Appointed CEO of Redgate Software in December 2021, succeeding co-founder Simon Galbraith, who had been sole CEO for nine years.
  • Sits on the Redgate board as CEO and Executive Director; the company also lists him as acting Chief Product Officer.
  • Led Redgate through a strategic growth investment announced in January 2026, under which Bregal Sagemount became majority shareholder; he was appointed a director of the new holding companies on 8 April 2026.
  • Previously held executive positions at ARM, most recently Vice President of Product.
  • Holds an MBA from Cambridge.

Professional Journey

Lamik began his career as a software engineer and entrepreneur. After completing an MBA at Cambridge he joined ARM, the Cambridge chip-architecture company, where he held a series of executive positions and was most recently Vice President of Product.

He moved to Redgate Software in 2019. Redgate was founded in Cambridge in 1999 by Neil Davidson and Simon Galbraith, who ran it as joint CEOs until Davidson left in 2012; Galbraith then led it alone. Lamik became a director of Red Gate Software Limited in July 2020, and in December 2021 the company announced him as CEO, with Galbraith staying on the board as majority shareholder. Galbraith said at the time that Lamik had “the intellect, experience and determination to take the company to great places.” Redgate then had about 400 staff across the UK, the US, Germany and Australia.

As CEO he has pushed the company’s positioning towards what it calls a database operations platform, and its recent releases cover AI assistance for database development and change control for enterprises scaling AI. In January 2026 Redgate announced a strategic growth investment from Bregal Sagemount, which would become majority shareholder. Lamik said Sagemount’s record with founder-led software businesses and its support for the company’s vision made it “an ideal partnership”. The transaction shows up in Companies House on 8 April 2026, when a new holding structure took control of the Redgate group. Galbraith kept a significant minority interest, and Sagemount partners joined the board. Lamik remains CEO and an executive director, working alongside Executive Chairman Frank Roe.
