Professional Journey

Krass began his career practising law at Nortman & Bloom, P.A. in Miami from 1991 to 1996, working in corporate law, intellectual property licensing and litigation. In 1993, while still in practice, he founded Intellectual Property Development, Inc. — “IPD” — to acquire and commercialise patent rights, which gave the later businesses both their name and their subject matter.

In 2002 he founded IPD Analytics, LLC, building a subscription research business around a question that is unusually consequential and unusually hard to answer: when a given drug will actually face competition. The firm assembles data from thousands of sources, normalises and analyses it with proprietary research, and staffs the work with former Federal Circuit patent clerks and litigators, payer and provider clinical pharmacists, brand and generic financial forecasters from major manufacturers, and PhD scientists with pharmacy and bioscience backgrounds. Its output has since broadened from US life-cycle analysis into global coverage across more than a dozen markets, plus payer and provider insights, coding and reimbursement, budget impact, med-tech and product liability work.

Alongside IPD Analytics he serves as Managing Member of IPD Capital, LLC, which invests in companies leveraging strong intellectual property strategies; the firm was among the investors in Allay Therapeutics’ $57.5 million Series D in June 2025. Krass was recognised as an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2020 Florida Award winner, is an active participant in YPO/WPO, and has served as Chairman of the South Florida Board of Advisors for the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship. He was elected to the National Board of Directors of the Posse Foundation in spring 2024 and sits on the Board of Trustees for the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C.
